MEHMET GÖRMEZ MET WITH THE STUDENTS OF THE IDE ACADEMY 2021-2022 SPECIALIZATION PROGRAM AT THE EVALUATION MEETING

THE FALL SEMESTER OF IDE ACADEMY WAS COMPLETED WITH THE EVALUATION MEETING

The 2021-2022 academic year fall semester of the IDE Academy International Higher Specialization Program, in which more than 250 graduate/doctorate students from 27 different countries were enrolled, was completed with the evaluation meeting held on January 22, 2022.

At the evaluation meeting held with the participation of our researchers and students, the President of our institute Mehmet Görmez emphasized, in these difficult times we are going through as whole humanity, the importance of the need for scholars who have the integrity of knowledge, action, and morality, that guide humanity especially the Islamic world, not only in terms of knowledge and thought, but also morality at the same time.

Mehmet Görmez noted that since the establishment of the Institute of Islamic Thought, International Higher Specialization Certificate Program has been organized within the framework of Islam's comprehensive conception of knowledge, which views human beings, revelation, and the universe as an integral whole, that considers contemplation as the worship of mind and sees ethics as the mind of the rules.  Through this Program, Görmez also added, the institute provided training aimed at developing the understanding, interpretation, and high-quality knowledge production skills of the participants, and thus contributed to the training of researchers who can produce high-quality knowledge, thought, and values that deserve academic reference. In the evaluation meeting, our students also made contributions by forwarding their recommendations and suggestions on the development, enrichment, and better implementation of the Specialization Program.

During the fall semester of 2021-2022, lectures were given by the experts of the field as well as the distinguished names of our world of knowledge and thought, workshops were held. In this context, while our teacher Mehmet Görmez via the course titled “Usul in Islamic Sciences"   made a qualified reading of Islamic thought through Usul, Nail Okuyucu contributed to strengthening the basic knowledge of our students in this field in the course called "Basic Subjects of Methodology (Usul) ".

While our teacher Burhanettin Tatar stretched the horizon of thought of our students to the dimension of wisdom in the course "Hikmah and Original Ways of Thinking in Islamic Thought", Mehmet Paçacı in the course titled "Comparative Interpretation Methods" and Hadi Adanalı in the course "Logic and Critical Thinking” also made significant contributions to the interdisciplinary thinking skills of our students and increased their awareness of critical thinking styles. Esra Gözeler made an important contribution to the enrichment of the knowledge of our students in her course titled “Methods of Interpretation in the Quranic Exegesis (Tafsir) Tradition".

While our students have the opportunity to learn practically how to establish the right link with our ancient tradition through the workshop delivered by Kaşif Hamdi Okur titled “Izz b. Abdesselam, Qawaid Readings” and Hasan Hacak’s “Al-Shatibi, Al-Muwafaqat Readings”, in the workshop titled "Taha Abdurrahman Readings" by Mehmet Görmez, students had the opportunity to gain experience in revitalizing and bringing our ancient thought heritage to the present day.
