A PROJECT MEETING ON “THE HISTORY OF USUL AND METHODOLOGY IN ISLAMIC THOUGHT” FOR THE CONTENT’S DRAFT DETERMINATION WAS HELD IN KIZILCAHAMAM ON DECEMBER 3-4

A PROJECT MEETING ON “THE HISTORY OF USUL AND METHODOLOGY IN ISLAMIC THOUGHT” FOR THE CONTENT’S DRAFT DETERMINATION WAS HELD IN KIZILCAHAMAM ON DECEMBER 3-4 WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF EXPERTS IN THE FIELD!

A project meeting on “The History of Usul and Methodology in Islamic Thought” for the content’s draft determination was held in Kızılcahamam on December 3-4 with the participation of experts in the field! The Institute of Islamic Thought initiated a large-scale research project titled History of Usul and Methodology in Islamic Thought which aims to deal with the historical development process of ‘Usul literature’ in a multi-dimensional way. In this regard; sources, methods, concepts, important figures, historical contexts and events, sects, theories, paradigms and many other factors that was determinant in the formation of Usul thought will be evaluated in detail.

The first meeting of the project was held on 12 December 2020. During the preparation process, with the contributions of academicians who are experts in this specific field, many issues such as the necessity of the project, its aims, priorities, method, volume, content, limitations and organization were discussed in detail and a main-framework was created for all these issues. As a result, in order to determine the topics to be covered in the project, a series of content improving studies were carried out with teamwork. And after each meeting, an evaluation meeting with wider participation was held. As a result of all these studies, it was decided to complete the preparation phase of the project and move on to the research phase. To achieve this; A project meeting was held in Ankara Kızılcahamam on 3-4 December 2022 due to the need to create a project directive text and the need for the evaluation, development and enrichment and determination of the previously-prepared project draft content.

 

Respected academicians from theology faculties of Turkiye and the Islamic world attended the meeting. During the meeting, ideas were exchanged on writing criteria, content and project management. It was decided to hold a new meeting in the coming days to start the writing phase.
